One day while logging on to the computer to visit a web site that provides continuing education units for counselors to re-cert their certifications I had an overwhelming thought about one of my current consumers that was having such a hard time being compliant with probation requirements for a DUI charge. They had transportation problems, 2 small children, and trying to work a full time job, with a husband that was in jail. This made it more difficult for her to find, pay for and attend classes.Every thing was stacked against her. She wanted to comply and needed to keep her own self out of jail on what would be a probation violation, if she did not get her class done by a certain time.
I thought wouldn't it be great if she had the convenience of a program that would allow her to meet her requirments, like the web site I was visiting was meeting mine. She could do what she needed to do from the privacy and convenience of her own home.
I began to research and found that most referring agencies don't mind if their consumers were completing on-line courses or home study work books, as long as they didn't need treatment. There are anger management, parenting and many other sites, but there were none for a Drug and Alcohol Education Program. I began to put together a work book that contained a lot of the information and experience that I had gained over the years as an Addictions Counselor. Program materials were compiled and an on line relationship was developed with the consumer in mind.
I hope that your involvement will be a positive one and that this helps in ways that will give you knowledge and feelings of accomplishment while helping you meet your requirements.
For what ever reason has brought you to this site,it is my deepest desire that you understand that you have the power to change the way you see things and move into a new way of living your life. You are in charge. Take control of your life today.May your exploration be a clean and sober one.
